Pandemic Dram: Eddy Pamplemousse

2 oz Leopold Bros. Navy Strength Gin
1 1/2 oz Eddy Bar Grapefruit Gimlet Mix
1/2 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

Shake everything with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail Glass.

The second mixer I got from my weekly grab of Eddy Bar Mixers from, well, The Eddy here in Providence. This one is for a Grapefruit Gimlet. Like yesterday’s Last Word/Ward 8 mash-up, the Gimlet has a wide catalog of  filches, variations, modifications and mutations. A standard Gimlet looks something like 2 oz Gin, 3/4 oz Rose’s Lime Juice and 3/4 oz Simple Syrup. That said, in them olden days you could see this mixed as 1 part Gin with 1 part Rose’s, which must have been kinda nasty. My favorite Gimlet is the French Gimlet which adds in some Elderflower Liqueur  for a lovely floral flourish. This mix from The Eddy swaps out Grapefruit for Lime, so Ithought I’d be clever and work in the French word for Grapefruit, Pampelmousse, into the name somehow only to find that there already is a drink called The Pampelmousse and it’s essentially a French Gimlet with Grapefruit juice. So, I inadvertently just made it.
