1 oz. Averna
2 dashes Berg and Hauck’s Jerry Thomas Bitters
Mansinthe Absinthe Wash
Stir first 3 ingredients with ice and strain into an Absinthe washed cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

This is the drink that started my love for Averna. When looking up the term “Black” in a cocktail database I came across the Black Negroni which had reference to The Black Manhattan. The Black Horse is basically a Black Manhattan with Rye and an Absinthe wash and it works really, really well.
