Black Jewel

1 oz. Leopold Bros. Navy Strength Gin
1 oz. Green Chartreuse
1 oz. Averna
1 dash Berg and Hauck’s Orange Bitters

Stir everything with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Taken from The Jewel Cocktail on the Imbibe site which is an even 1:1:1 version of the Bijou and Blackened, yet again, with the substitution of Averna for the Sweet Vermouth from the originals.

I’ve been meaning to pick up more spirits made by Leopold Bros. Aside from their Absinthe, which I love, the only other drink I’ve had by them is their New York Apple Whiskey. The Apple Whiskey is well made, but I just don’t like flavored whiskies. It was a toss up between their Small batch Gin and their Navy Strength. I didn’t have a Navy Strength Gin, so I went with that. I was hoping that the extra punch of the Navy Strength wouldn’t upset the balance of the drink’s herbal nuances but it all seemed to fit nicely.
